Bergen Bowmen Respond to Horse Shooting
by Archer
It
has come to the attention of this organization, the Bergen Bowmen, Inc., that on the evening of Sunday, January 21, 2007 in Franklin Township located in Gloucester County, New Jersey, a horse was shot and mortally wounded with an arrow affixed with a broadhead. Apparently two shots were taken at the
horse, known as Cutie, owned by Jack Ireland and his family with the second shot killing the horse. We express and extend
our sympathy to the Ireland Family for the loss of their horse. We, the Bergen Bowmen, do not condone this and in fact are
quite appalled by it.
We know that the authorities are now actively seeking the individual who has committed
this horrible act. We openly join the New Jersey archery community in the effort to find the person responsible for this and that the person is held
accountable to the fullest extent of the law. We ask if any one has information about this incident, please step forward and
help the police.
To
the person who committed this please turn yourself in and accept whatever charges are filed against you. You committed a horrible
act and must be held accountable for it.
We know we cannot speak for the entire New Jersey archery community, but we are sure that they
would agree that the act of this person is not how the archery community really conducts itself.
