2007 Shoot Season is set!

This year our membership has decided to hold two 2-day events. The second one will also incorporate a 'Family Archery Weekend' where by we will encourage the general public to come by and try out archery at our practice range. We will have the equipment - you just have to show-up!

We have lots planned at the shoots this as you can see. So get your bow and call some friends and come out for a great day of shooting some arrows.

You will not be disppointed!

2006 Shoot Season Wrap-up

Though the 2006 Shoot Season started a bit slow, we ended with quite a bang on September 13,2006. We thank all who attend our shoots this season and look foward to seeing you next year. We will post our 2007 Shoot Sechedule as soon we decide on the dates, so please check back the beginning of 2007.

At the request of the Bergen County Parks Deptartment, the Bergen Bowmen, Inc. held a Family Archery Day on Sunday, August 13, 2006, as part of the Bergen County Parks Deptartments Park's Discovery Days Program. The event held from 10:00 a.m. untill 2:00 p.m. was blessed with just beautiful weather and brought out around 250 people to the event, archers and just observers alike.   A picnic of hot dogs, hamburgers, assorted chips and drinks were available.

While many season archers showed up to shoot the 28 3-D target course, many more new archers tried for shooting at ballons on the practice range. Among the participants at the practice area was Bergen County Executive Dennis NcNearny, who turned out to be a good shooter. New archers who shot and broke balloons at the practice area each received an archery medal hung on a Black and Gold ribbon - the signifying colors of the Bergen Bowmen.

Many members attend to help cook, serve as range officers or just field questions. Overall the turnout was fantastic and well appreciated by the public.

The Bergen Bowmen, Inc. would like to thank the Bergen County Parks Deptartment for being very generous and allocated their hot dog cart for the event and covered all of the costs that day so that this event was free to the public.

Please note that the revolutionary Genesis bows that the club uses for its Archery Exhibit Program and events like this makes it  possible for adults and children to shoot the same equipment. These bows made by Brennan Industries is the cornerstone of the NASP Program (National Archery in the Schools Program) and have made a big difference in allowing many more people to try archery. Beside owning these bows, we have two members who are NASP certified coaches ready teach any interested school's P.E. teachers the NASP Program. Information about NASP can be obtained by clicking on the link below.

Our 2005 Shoot Season Wrap-up

Bergen Bowmen 2005 Shoot Season was off to a good start.

The May 1st shoot, co-hosted with UBNJ for the second year, saw many shooters breaking out both compound and traditional bows for a day of fun on a 28 3-D target course set on the foothills of the Ramapo Mountains. TANJ (Traditional Archers of NJ) Representative Gerald DeCaro better known as 'Doc', even came and set up a booth along with UBNJ.

Our June Shoot saw a few less shooters, but that was made-up when our July 24th shoot was held. Many adults brought their children out for a wonderful day of shooting. Many of our members also took the chance to warm-up for the coming bow hunting season. It was a great end to the year.

The Bergen Bowmen would like to thank all the archers that attended this year and we will contact you regarding our 2006 shoots once we have scheduled the dates. We promise it to be more enjoyable than this year.
